Where we teach the art and beauty of fly fishing, from covering the basics to advanced fly-fishing techniques and skills in some of the very best trout waters that Western North Carolina has to offer. Our clients learn how to cast, reading the water, how to select your flies based on the pattern that will work best for trout. We teach advanced tactics such as euro nymphing, dry fly and streamer fishing. Our focus is for you to enjoy the beauty of fly fishing and The beauty of The Smokies.

Guide-Shannon Young
Guide-Shannon Young
Shannon grew up learning how to fly fish as a teenager in the mountains of North Georgia. He was an avid bass fisherman in the mid west and fished the B.A.S.S. Circuit for The State Federation for many years. He has begun his journey on becoming a master fly fisherman and local guide and lives locally in Maggie Valley. Shannon is an excellent teacher and knows fly fishing.

Landon is a top local guide and Partner/Owner within the business. He grew up in this area and knows these trout waters as good as anyone around. Landon has over 10 years as a fly fisherman. He has fished Montana and Wyoming and been on some of the best trout waters in the US. He is currently studying Sports Medicine in South Carolina and Guides throughout the spring and summer. He was a state champion in basketball and baseball and a hometown hero.

Kristin is getting started in her fly fishing journey. She has been fly fishing for over a year now and proving that this sport is open to anyone. Kristin has a natural cast and has the understanding of how to read the water and most importantly loves to be in the river and outside in nature.

John is our part time guide on his fourth year of fly fishing. He learned in the Western North Carolina rivers and streams and is obsessed with fly fishing. He has been tying his own flies for a few years now and enjoys seeing his flies land a trout. He's eager to share his knowledge he's gained over the past years and John is super friendly and a super down to earth fly fisherman.

Patrick is an avid fly fisherman and loves baseball. He grew up locally here in Western North Carolina and grew up doing a lot of fishing. He loves being outdoors and being on the rivers, a very gentle soul and fun to be around.

Nick is a super down to earth guide who loves being out on the river and teaches Tenkara fly fishing, as well as dry fly and euro nymphing styles of fly fishing. Nick is an avid fly fisherman and loves to hike and enjoys nature.

Evan grew up fishing with his Grandpa and is an avid outdoorsman. He loves to hunt, fish and be in the woods or in nature. Evan is a very down to earth and humble person and great to be around. He builds fly rods in his spare time and is a great "Dry Fly " Fisherman.

Float Trips
Float Trips
We offer 1/2 Day and Full Day Float Trips on All the Major Rivers in North Carolina and Tennessee. From Brown, Brook and Rainbow Trout to Smallmouth Bass on the fly. Wade Trips and Float Trips are $200.00 per person for 1/2 day - 4 hours and full day trips are $250.00 per person- 8 hours and include lunch and snacks. All you need is a license, which you can get online at ncwildlife.org and we provide everything else. We take a ton of pictures, and you get a video of your day out on the river. We offer full day, and half day wade trips. Full day trips are $250.00 each person and half day trips are $200.00. We provide all the gear, tackle and waders, plus drinks and snacks for the trip. Kids are encouraged to come learn to fly fish. We offer a military discount of 15% to any of our service members. We are licensed guides within the state of North Carolina and carry liability insurance as well. A video and pictures are provided as part of your fly-fishing adventure. Please contact us for pricing and availability. We require a $200.00 deposit to book all trips. We accept check and offer Venmo at KSOUTDOORS for deposits.
